6900 Stenton Avenue (at Gorgas Lane), Mt. Airy (NW Philadelphia) From the North and East: From the New Jersey Turnpike going south from New York, take exit 6 for the PA Turnpike. From the PA Turnpike, take exit 339 (Fort Washington). After the toll booths, take the second right for Route 309 South (the first right is 309 North). After a few miles, take the Easton Road exit, in the direction marked Mt. Airy. This will get you onto Easton road going west. Keep going as close as you can to straight for a couple of miles (the name of the road changes to Wadsworth Avenue and then to Mt. Airy Avenue, but feels like the same road; youÕll pass a cemetery on your right). When you get to a corner with a Sunoco station on the left and a BP station on the right, turn left, onto Stenton Avenue. Go straight through the next traffic light (Mt. Pleasant Avenue) and continue straight two more blocks (youÕll pass Sedgwick Street, then comes Gorgas Lane). The church is on the near right corner of Stenton and Gorgas. You can park in front of the church on Stenton, or turn right onto Gorgas and park on the right there. ItÕs a good idea to lock your car, if youÕre not used to being in a city. If neither main door is open, go to the door on the right as you look from the Stenton sidewalk; there is a red buzzer you can push so someone can buzz you in. From the North and West: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike (276/East-West or 476/Northeast Extension) to Exit 333 (Norristown) and follow the sign (bear right) that says "Germantown Pike East (Philadelphia)". Follow this a few miles to the top of Chestnut Hill, where there is a Borders and the trolley tracks begin. At the next traffic light (not right at Borders, but one further), turn left on Evergreen Avenue. At the first traffic light, turn right on Stenton Avenue. Follow it a mile or so until you see a commercial district on the left, including a Sunoco station, a Rite Aid, and a Rita's Water Ice stand. The Rita's is at Mt. Pleasant Ave.; keep going straight on Stenton 2 blocks after Mt. Pleasant; the church is on the near right corner (at Gorgas Lane). See above for parking details. From Center City Philadelphia: Get onto the Schuylkill Expressway North (I-76 West). It's best to stay in the second lane from the left, because Route 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) forks off to the right with two lanes of traffic, and it's easy to get onto it by accident. Immediately after that fork (You stay on 76, the left fork), take the exit for Lincoln Drive (exit 340-A). This will funnel you over a bridge over the Schuylkill River. Quickly try to get into the middle lane, and follow the signs for Lincoln Drive. Take Lincoln Drive for several miles, until it all of a sudden starts to look pretty quiet and residential at an intersection with a CVS drugstore on your right. Turn right at that traffic light, onto Mt. Pleasant Avenue. Go straight through two traffic lights (at Cresheim Rd. and Germantown Avenue); at the third traffic light (you will see a Rita's Water Ice stand on the far left corner), turn right onto Stenton Avenue and continue straight two more blocks (you'll pass Sedgwick Street, then comes Gorgas Lane). The church is on the near right corner of Stenton and Gorgas. You can park in front of the church on Stenton, or turn right onto Gorgas and park on the right there. It's a good idea to lock your car, if you're not used to being in a city. If neither main door is open, go to the door on the right as you look from the Stenton sidewalk; there is a red buzzer you can push so someone can buzz you in. From the South: From I-95 North, near the Philadelphia airport, follow the signs for 76 West (Schuylkill Expressway North). You will cross over a bridge with 2 lanes in each direction, then make a left turn and merge onto 76 West. Then follow the directions above from Center City.
